Pied a Terre - Amsterdam - 85 m2 - 350 m3

Redesign of a Canal House
This pied-à-terre in Amsterdam underwent a stunning transformation, balancing functionality with expressive elegance.
The design features a sophisticated palette of materials: smoked oak, walnut, Calacatta Viola marble, red and bordeaux accents, beige lime plaster, and crisp white highlights emphasizing the classical architectural details.
The space is divided into three zones: living (public), sleeping and bathing (private), and a support area (semi-public). A central support block visually and functionally separates the zones, offering a harmonious flow while maintaining distinctiveness within the layout.

The Gray House - Rotterdam - 440 m2 - 1750 m3

The Gray House
The Gray House is a bold architectural project in Nieuw Kralingen, Rotterdam, designed to harmonize with its wooded surroundings.
The layout is composed of interlocking volumes, each serving a distinct purpose, connected by a primary axis that runs from the front to the back of the house.
This axis creates a clear spatial hierarchy, transitioning from public to semi-public to private zones.
A secondary semi-public axis accommodates key communal areas such as the office, family room, kitchen, and dining space, while the upper floor houses private spaces for sleeping and bathing. The design balances openness with intimacy, offering spaces that vary in scale and atmosphere.
The house is clad in gray brick, which exudes a sense of simplicity and calmness, contrasting beautifully with the lush greenery around it.
Dark recessed window frames, a raised concrete base, and a black zinc roof with vertical seams enhance the clean, monochromatic look.
Vertical wooden cladding on the first floor introduces contrast, creating a floating effect above the grounded brick structure.
The interplay of horizontal and vertical volumes generates dynamic, light-filled spaces that bring the outdoors in, celebrating the relationship between architecture and nature while offering a serene, contemporary living experience.

Luxury bungalow - Loenen a/d Vecht - 850 m3

Luxury Bungalow by the Water
The design of this luxury bungalow embraces its unique waterfront setting, evoking a sense of calm, balance, and harmony. The concept distinguishes clearly between closed service volumes and open, representative spaces. The service volumes, with their closed and private character, face the street, while the open representative spaces orient themselves fully toward the garden and water.
Upon entering, visitors are immediately drawn to a central axis offering an uninterrupted view of the water, framed by a strategically positioned red maple tree. This axis serves as the heart of the design, connecting the various spaces throughout the home.
The left wing houses the private quarters, including bedrooms and bathrooms, while the right wing contains the more public spaces such as the living room, dining area, and open kitchen. Flanking the main volume are auxiliary buildings. On one side, a wellness area and pool space; on the other, the driveway with carport and boathouse.
The choice of materials reinforces the architectural vision. Service volumes feature an exterior clad in charred Shou Sugi Ban wood, with interiors lined in warm Western Red Cedar. A skylight visually separates the service and representative spaces, emphasizing the transition. The representative spaces are constructed from light brickwork and topped with enlarged fascias of vertically mounted Western Red Cedar.
From the exterior, the bungalow exudes a robust and characterful presence. Inside, a calm and harmonious palette of light tones takes center stage, complemented by strategic sightlines and long axes. These elements ensure a functional flow, aesthetic cohesion, and an enduring sense of tranquility.

Semi-Detached Villa
This semi-detached villa, located in the prestigious town of Wassenaar, is a design created for a collective private commissioning (CPO) project.
The design consists of two connected country-style residences, harmonizing modern comfort with timeless architecture.
The material palette was carefully selected to emphasize elegance and durability. A base of dark brick grounds the villa, providing a strong foundation. Above, the facades feature white limewashed brick, creating a crisp yet warm contrast. Natural wood accents, crafted from thermally modified Frake wood, add texture and refinement. The black wooden window frames, with a classic grid division, complete the harmonious exterior aesthetic.
The architecture embraces simplicity with a gabled roofline and a minimalistic base form, while subtle expansions through bay windows soften the volume and enhance the living spaces with natural light.
The ground floor layout revolves around a central service core, containing the kitchen, staircase, toilet, storage room, and mudroom. This core is surrounded by open-plan spaces, including the living room, dining area, and a home office, creating a flowing and connected atmosphere ideal for family life and entertaining.
The upper floor is thoughtfully designed to accommodate a growing family, featuring three children's bedrooms with a shared bathroom. The master suite includes a private bathroom and a walk-in closet, providing a luxurious and intimate retreat for the parents.
The garden extends the living experience outdoors with a carefully designed annex featuring an outdoor kitchen and a swimming pool, perfect for relaxation and social gatherings.
This project blends traditional craftsmanship with modern family living, offering a serene and timeless home that respects both its surroundings and the desires of its residents.
